It all started on a front porch in downtown Boulder. In Summer, 2013, Boulder resident Ms. Zornio began hosting musical potlucks at her house on Mapleton and 13th. She and her friends would hang twinkle lights and candle lanterns from the rafters, roll out a shiny black upright piano, and set up a few guitars with some small microphones and amps. Then they would take turn sharing songs, serenading the neighborhood under the glow of moonlight. As the summer passed on, the evenings grew from just a few to over a 100 friends & passersby with lawn blankets, cozied up and listening to the sounds of the night. Soon enough, strangers were contacting asking when the next musical potluck would be!
And so it began.
Seeking a larger space that would still house an intimate feel, the local series grew to be hosted by local venues such as the Bramble & Hare and The Laughing Goat Coffeehouse. Most recently, the series has found a warmth at Boulder's renowned eTown Hall, a local venue which provides stellar acoustics while keeping the fun - and sometimes silly - community spirit alive.
Today, the musical evenings are designed to provide a platform for all ages and working professionals who harbor strong musical talents, as well as bringing friends and neighbors together in a fun and friendly atmosphere. It is designed to bridge the gaps from new and budding local musicians to professional, with the vast majority of our crew being every day scientists, teachers, researchers and more. With mentorship, a commitment to learning, and of course sharing in community, we hope you will enjoy our sound as we strive to keep these events accessible to all.
